Here's a list of some of the different recipes you can use with yerba mate. To some people, drinking plain yerba mate tea can taste like "hay" so it's always nice to have different recipes to try it out with. If you really want to know my preferred taste, I just add 2 tablespoons of sugar with a touch of milk to take the "hay" taste away. I've experimented with the other ways but that's my favorite and it tastes just like the regular tea I used to drink this way.

If you know of other recipes, feel free to send them in.

Traditional method - Read this for the proper way to prepare yerba mate.

Individual Ingredients - These can be added to any of the recipes in this section or to a plain yerba mate brew. Let us know if you have more ideas. Some of the many ingredients people use for flavoring are: cocoa powder, cinnamon, maple syrup, honey, ginger, vanilla, lemon and hazelnut syrup.

Modern coffee and tea replacement - use yerba mate in place of them: coffee maker, tea-bags, milk, sugar, etc.

Flavored Yerba Mate - Pre-flavored tea is good when you find one that suits your tastes. You may still need sweetener.

Iced Yerba Mate Tea - Like the name says, rather than serving hot, serve cold over ice cubes. Great drink for the summertime.

Yerba Mate Cocktail - Brew up your tea as normal but mix it half and half with juice such as pineapple, apple, mango, peach, coconut milk or orange juice.

Maple Mate - Brew a normal gourd of yerba mate. Add milk and 2 teaspoons of maple syrup and enjoy.

Normal Recipe Ingredient - Add a couple tablespoons to whatever you're cooking. Ideas of this can be salads, brownies, pudding, muffins, etc.

Non-recipes - you can buy yerba mate supplements such as energy drinks, pills and liquid extract. Not as much fun as drinking the real thing, though.
